Little Secrets About The Batman

Who doesn't love the Caped Crusader? It's no secret that many people both kids and adults like Batman. I myself admire the Batman because he is a great superhero.

Do you wanna know little secrets about the Batman? I have some interesting facts about him which you should know.

1. Being Batman is expensive

Want to dress up like a rodent and battle the criminal underworld? You’d better have deep pockets. According to estimates, the total cost of Batman's outfit, weapons, gadgets, vehicles, and training would be more than half a billion dollars - $682,450,750, to be exact. That’s obviously a huge amount of money, but the cost of fighting crime is just a drop in the bucket for billionaire Bruce Wayne, whom real-world economists have estimated has a fictional net worth somewhere between $6.5 billion and$11.6 billion.

2. Batman didn't always let the bad guys live

In all of the Batman movies, the Caped Crusader adheres to a strict “no killing” policy. It has something to do with his parents being brutally murdered in front of his eyes. Sure, the Batman might throw a criminal off a roof from time to time or beat them up really, really badly, but broken bones, internal bleeding, and a lifetime of rehabilitation are about the worst things the Dark Knight is willing to dish out.

The same is mostly true of Batman’s comic book counterpart, but in his early days, the crime fighting character had no compunctions about straight up killing dudes and even packed a gun! Golden-age Batman beat, shot, stabbed, crushed, and exploded crooks from all walks of life. He once even hung an out-of-control mental patient to death from the Batplane, quipping, “He’s probably better off this way!” What a jerk!

3. The Joker had a mustache?

While the clown prince of crime has never officially sported any facial hair, the actor who portrayed him on the 1960s “Batman” television series always had a moustache. Cesar Romero, who was known for his trademark facial hair, refused to shave his mustache for the role of The Joker. Though it was never very obvious on standard definition tube TVs, Romero’s moustache is easy to spot under his clown makeup in still photos and the 1966 movie.

4. Batman was nearly played by... Bill Murray?!

Batman is a role that actor Michael Keaton will forever be associated with. Keaton, who at the time of 1989’s “Batman,” was best known for his comedic work, was a very unlikely choice to play the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. He even beat out seemingly obvious candidates like Alec Baldwin and Mel Gibson.

However, a few years prior there was an even more unlikely choice: Bill Murray. In the mid-1980s, Warner Bros. was planning to reboot Batman with a movie in the same vein as the campy 1960s TV show starring Adam West. That plan ultimately fell through, but the studio’s top choice for Bruce Wayne at the time was none other than “Saturday Night Live” vet and “Ghostbusters” star Bill Murray. “I would have been a fine Batman,” Murray told MTV in 2008. “You know, there have been a number of Batmen. I like them … I thought Mike Keaton did a great job as Batman. It’s obviously… it’s a great role.”

5. Two-Face was nearly played by... Lando Calrissian

"Star Wars" actor Billy Dee Williams appears in Tim Burton’s 1989 “Batman” movie as Gotham City District Attorney Harvey Dent - a character that any Bat-fan knows goes on to become the insane and disfigured criminal mastermind Two-Face. Dent only has a few minutes of screentime in the film, but the real reason Williams took the role was so that he could play Two-Face in a future Bat-movie.

The actor even had a pay-or-play contract, which required Warner Bros. to buy Williams out when they decided to recast the role with Tommy Lee Jones for 1995’s “Batman Forever.” The role was most recently played by Aaron Eckhart in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight.”

6. There have been five official Robins (and countless others in one-off appearances and alternate universes)

When someone mentions Batman’s teenage sidekick Robin, the name Dick Grayson is usually what springs to mind. Bruce Wayne’s young ward was played by actor Burt Ward in the 1960s “Batman” TV series and by Chris O’Donnell in “Batman Forever” (1995) and “Batman & Robin” (1997). But on the comic book page, Dick Grayson isn’t the only teen to take up the Robin mantle.

Bruce Wayne has a long history of training children to become costumed vigilantes. There have been five Robins all told: Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and Damian Wayne (Bruce’s son with Talia al Ghul). While Grayson and Drake went on to successful superhero careers of their own (as Nightwing and Red Robin), two other Robins have died in the line of duty (Todd and Wayne), and another has been retroactively written out of the official continuity (Brown). Basically there are probably some pretty serious child endangerment and gross negligence charges coming Batman’s way.

7. Marlon Wayans neary beat Chris O'Donnell for the role of Robin

Speaking of Robins, Chris O’Donnell wasn’t the first choice to play the role in the 1990s. Marlon Wayans (of “Scary Movie” and “White Chicks” fame) was actually hired to play the role of Batman’s sidekick in 1992’s “Batman Returns.” However, the character was ultimately written out of the film because there was already too much going om tje script.

Despite not being in the movie, Wayans was still paid and was contracted to play Robin in Burton’s third Batman movie. However, Wayans was replaced by O’Donnell when Burton left the project and director Joel Schumacher took over.

8. Even George Clooney hated “Batman & Robin”

There’s no question that 1997’s “Batman & Robin” derailed the franchise and set back the comic book movie by nearly a decade. The film’s star George Clooney knows this and, for the most part, takes responsibility for it.

“With hindsight it’s easy to look back at this and go ‘Whoa, that was really sh-- and I was really bad in it,’” Clooney said in a 2011 interview. “But if I am going to be Batman in the film ‘Batman & Robin,’ I can’t say it didn’t work and then not take some of the blame for that.”

To this day Clooney’s real issue with the film remains the extra features on his costume. “I wasn't thrilled with the nipples on the batsuit,”the actor confessed in a 2014 Reddit AMA. “You know that's not something you really think about when you're putting it on. You figure all batsuits have nipples and then you realize yours was really the first. Batman was just constantly cold I guess.”

9. Armie Hammer was cast as the “Justice League” Batman

Before he played the Winklevoss twins in “The Social Network” or the Lone Ranger in the disastrous Disney Western of the same name, actor Armie Hammer nabbed the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the ill-fated 2007 project “Justice League: Mortal.” Hammer would have played a younger version of the Dark Knight, fighting alongside equally young versions of other DC Comics heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and The Flash. Ultimately, however, George Miller’s-big budget superhero team up never happened due to ballooning budget and a writer’s strike.

10. Christian Bale wasn’t a shoo-in for “Batman Begins”

Bale ended up portraying Batman in three films: “Batman Begins” (2005), “The Dark Knight” (2008), and “The Dark Knight Rises” (2012). But getting the gig in the first place wasn’t easy for Bale. For Christopher Nolan’s 2005 reboot “Batman Begins,” eight actors auditioned for the part of Batman/Bruce Wayne: Bale, Joshua Jackson, Hugh Dancy, Billy Crudup, Cillian Murphy, Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eion Bailey. The video audition required each actor to don Val Kilmer’s Batsuit from “Batman Forever” and play a scene from the reboot. The role eventually went to Bale, but Nolan liked Murphy’s performance so much that he cast the Irish actor as villain Dr. Jonathan Crane, also known as The Scarecrow.

Anmum Vanilla Mango

Drinking milk is one of the most important thing every pregnant mother should follow because it is definitely a key to a healthy pregnancy. A conceiving mother who do not drink enough milk have a great risk of having an infant with low birth weight which is not good.

If you know you are pregnant, you should pay enough attention when it comes to the food you are eating which means you should always have a healthy and balanced diet in order to lessen the risk of micro nutrient deficiencies. To be able to achieve this, aside from taking vitamins and minerals, you should also get proper intake of milk to get enough calcium and protein which is necessary for your growing baby.

And when talking about milk for pregnant woman, Anmum is obviously the best prenatal milk supplement available today. I have been drinking Anmum milk both vanilla and chocolate flavors since my first pregnancy. And until now on my third pregnancy, I don't have any problem drinking Anmum milk and I think my baby likes it too.

Just a week ago, I've tried Anmum Vanilla Mango milk and it taste so good. Mango is actually one of my favorite fruit that is why I like the idea of drinking milk with mango flavor.

The New Anmum Materna Vanilla Mango still delivers the important nutrients for your and your child’s needs during pregnancy.

  • Folate: Folate is important for growth and division of cells in both mother and fetus
  • Calcium: Helps to build strong bones
  • Clinically Tested: Study has shown that women who consume folic acid fortified milk have increased in blood folate level. Anmum Materna is the only high folic acid milk powder that is clinically tested
  • Iron: Is a factor in red blood cells formation that supports 50% blood volume increase during pregnancy
  • Gangliosides and DHA: Nutrients found in the brain. Essential brain cells begin to form as early as 27 days after conception
  • NEW Probio DR10 and Prebiotic (Inulin): Inulin is a prebiotic, which helps to maintain a good intestinal environment. Meanwhile, Probio DR10 is a type of good bacteris. It is important for pregnant mums to have a good intestinal environment for effective absorption of nutrients

Merck Sangobion Pre-Natal FA

Every adult person's body needs specific vitamins and minerals to stay strong and healthy. If you are not that aware, iron deficiency anemia is among the most common nutritional disorder nowadays. Sadly, this kind of disorder is prone to women and children.

If you particularly want to save yourself from such disorder, enough iron element in your body is essential to keep you in top condition. Iron is very much needed by your body in order to replace the blood loss during your menstrual cycle as well as for the normal functioning of your body's immune system. And for pregnant woman, iron is definitely required to prevent spina bifida (split spine - is a developmental congenital disorder caused by the incomplete closing of the embryonic neural tube.)  and calcium deficiencies in pregnancy.

Among the best sources of iron which you can include in your everyday diet are eggs, nuts, red meat, liver, as well as organic food supplements like the Sangobion.

Merck Sangibion Pre Natal FA in particular is the vitamins prescribed to me by my OB-Gyn which comes in a small black and dark red capsule and smells like chocolate. She told me it is a complete vitamin that will maintain me and my baby's good health condition.

Fifth Pre-Natal Care Check Up

Just before the holiday last week, I had my fifth pre-natal care check up with my OB-Gyne. Presently I'm on my 6th month of pregnancy and the baby inside me is growing bigger and bigger. He/She keeps on moving every single day and I wonder what she's doing inside my tummy.

According to my doctor, me and my baby are in great shape. We were so happy that we're able to locate and hear my baby's heartbeat in just a few seconds. She told me to continue drinking two glasses of Anmum milk every day. She even gave me milk samples as she wants me to try the newest Anmum Vanilla Mango flavor milk.

She also gave me new vitamins to take once a day before bedtime, Merck Sangobion PreNatal.

Renow-D Facial Cream

Today, I've visited my previous blog My Posh Little Ones. Unfortunately I don't get to update it anymore. But to my surprise I've found out there are still many people who visits it and read my posts. Among the most visited post I have there is about "Renow-D Facial Cream" last March 4, 2013 which reached about 1,810 views.

Here's a copy of that post about Renow-D Facial Cream

This morning I went to the mall to look for the perfect facial cream that would help treat my pimples and probably help whiten the chicken pox scars on my face and neck.

There are lots of facial creams available and I actually had a hard time choosing the best cream considering the brand and ingredients of the product as well as the price. After about 15 minutes or so, I have decided to pick Renow-D Formula-One Facial Cream.

I have heard about this product Renow-D a number of years ago and read some testimonials if such product is really effective. Based on the reviews I have gathered, it is indeed an effective facial cream product that could remove black spots on the face in just 1 week time. There's nothing wrong about trying this product, it cost less than Php 30.00 only.

For now, I will be using Renow-D facial cream for a week or so and apply it twice a day, one in the morning and one in the evening before going to sleep. I hope it will be effective on my face and soon become blemish free. I just wish I won't be allergic to it.

Pencil Pregnancy Test

I'm on my third pregnancy now, currently about 6 months on the way. I'm always excited being pregnant although I had a trauma after what happened to my second child. If I didn't got sick and had chicken pox, my baby girl could have been alive today. Well, I just thank the Lord for blessing me with another baby this time.

Among the things I'm looking forward whenever I become pregnant is knowing my baby's gender. According to my OB I can already have an ultrasound but I insist having it when I'm already on my 8 month so that I'll be so sure about my baby's sex. A friend of mine had suggested I should try the Pencil Pregnancy Test which is kinda weird to do but there's nothing else about trying it. If you wanna know more about such baby's gender test, read on.

What is the pencil pregnancy test? The pencil pregnancy test is used to determine the gender of unborn babies.  By placing a needle on the end of a pencil eraser and then adding the string to the needle, you can create a do-it-yourself ultrasound – make sure to still get the ultrasound, but once you do, you will realize the pencil test was correct!
Is the pencil pregnancy test accurate – does the pencil test really work? Yes, the pregnancy pencil test is accurate and really does work.  Many websites say that the pencil pregnancy test does not work but this is because many of the websites have the information incorrect.
How does it work? We are not actually sure how it scientifically works but we believe that because everything is planned by God, he gave us this little tool to determine the gender of a child.    The pencil pregnancy test even predicts miscarriages and abortions.  God has a plan whether you like it or not.  Here’s how it works:
  1. Stick the needle into the top of the pencil eraser – the pencil should be very sharp.
  2. Place a thread within the needle – two feet of thread should do fine…
  3. The device has been created.
  4. Place the woman’s wrist on a table – back of hand face down
  5. Holding the string with both of your hands, hover the threaded pencil over the wrist – remember, the back of the hand is face down and the palm of the hand is face up.
  6. The Prediction begins: With amazement, the end of the pencil (lead side) will begin to move.  It will predict the sex of the child – IN ORDER!
You can do this to women who have not yet had children or those that have already had children – it predicts…as well as tells the woman’s pregnancy history.
The prediction will always start with a circle.
  • Swaying from side-to-side = girl
  • Swaying up-and-down – hand to elbow = boy
  • Swaying  diagonal = Twins! We think!!! Due to the overwhelming response, it seems the diagonal may be a break during “pencil thinking” rather than a twin prediction. We just don’t know! SO if you get a diagonal, don’t go out and buy two of everything, get the Ultrasound first!
  • Large circle = miscarriage/abortion

How To Take Care and Love Your Man

Saying the words "I Love You" and "I Care For You" to your man are not enough to show him you truly love and care for him. Remember that action speaks louder than words and that men are visual and are impulsive. As a woman, you should learn how to show your man you love and care for him in ways that he'll surely appreciate.

To help you with that, here are important ways you should do to show your man you do care a lot about him and that you love him more than words can say.

Your Undivided Attention

When you are together especially at home, forget about the other unimportant things you have to do instead spend quality time with your man. Ask him simple questions that will show you care about him like how was his day or what did he had for lunch or snack, etc. If you are able to do this every time then he'll know for sure that he's among your topmost priority. Accordingly, he'll certainly appreciate you as his partner for focusing solely on him despite your busy schedules.

Keeping Your Promises
It's so easy to make a promise to your man, what's hard is keeping them. If you want your man to trust you, learn to keep whatever you promise him, and sure enough he'll do the same for you. Do not say any thing without thinking first because you'll be in big trouble.

Preparing and Cooking His Favorite Meal

As the old saying says: "The best way to a man's heart is through his stomach." Yes this is absolutely true. Every woman should know at least how to cook simple meals for their man. Just by knowing the favorite food your man likes to eat will show how well you know him.

Appreciate Your Man & Tell Him His Handsome

One way you can boost your man's confidence and ego is by appreciating every little thing he does especially his hard work. Another way you can appreciate him is by saying compliments like telling him that he's handsome, his clothes looks perfect on him, and many other things that will show you admire him.

Give Him Sweet Notes & Send Him Naughty Text Messages

One fun way to show your love and care for your man is by surprising him with little things such as leaving him sweet notes to read. You can either choose to place it on his plate before he have his breakfast, on his clothes or shoes before wearing them, inside his wallet, and many other places that he'll surely see. And to keep your love alive, from time to time it's okay to send him naughty text messages which will definitely leave him very excited to go home early.

Give Your Man His Moment To Talk

Listening to whatever your man has to say is important. This includes his plans, his worries, his problems, his happiness, etc. Listen eagerly to every little detail he says and look him through his eyes. Ask questions if possible and give your suggestions if he asks you. This way your man will appreciate you for hearing his side and will know that you do care about whatever he shares to you.

Get To Know His Family and Friends

Aside from you being his top most priority in his life, his family and friends are also important to him. No matter how intimidating his relatives or annoying his friends can be, making an effort to at least welcome their presence especially when they visit you at home will show your man that you are willing to reach out with them.

Minecraft

I really don't get what the game Minecraft is all about. I've heard about it from my daughter and my nephew who have gone so crazy about such game. Since it's already summer and my daughter doesn't have school anymore she spends most of her time checking on her Minecraft game.

From time to time, my daughter shows me her several worlds in Minecraft, the houses, pet animals, trees, and many others. And since I really wanted to know what the game is all about, I've searched online about it and here's what I found out.

Minecraft is a game about breaking and placing blocks. At first, people built structures to protect against nocturnal monsters, but as the game grew players worked together to create wonderful, imaginative things.
It can also be about adventuring with friends or watching the sun rise over a blocky ocean. It’s pretty. Brave players battle terrible things in The Nether, which is more scary than pretty. You can also visit a land of mushrooms if it sounds more like your cup of tea.

Motivation For Moms #1

From time to time I will be sharing here in my blog a short verse about Motivations for Moms. I hope every Mom who will get to read them will be highly motivated to teach their kids about good deeds to do in life.

For today's particular motivation, it says that we should teach our kids the importance of money by means of saving some amount to be used for other important things like that of offering it to the church. Old toys and clothes should not be simply thrown away because other kids can still make use of them so we should teach our kids to share their toys and clothes, including other things such as books.

Easter Sunday 2014

Let us all be happy today and celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead.

It's Easter Sunday and new life begins today.

The Fulfillment of Our Faith:
Easter is a day of celebration because it represents the fulfillment of our faith as Christians. St. Paul wrote that, unless Christ rose from the dead, our faith is in vain (1 Corinthians 15:17). Through his death, Christ saved mankind from bondage to sin, and He destroyed the hold that death has on all of us; but it is His Resurrection that gives us the promise of new life, both in this world and the next.
The Coming of the Kingdom:
That new life began on Easter Sunday. In the Our Father we pray that "Thy Kingdom come, on earth as it is in Heaven." And Christ told His disciples that some of them would not die until they saw the Kingdom of God "coming in power" (Mark 9:1). The early Christian Fathers saw Easter as the fulfillment of that promise. With the resurrection of Christ, God's Kingdom is established on earth, in the form of the Church.

This Easter Sunday 2014, me and my daughter was not able to attend the Holy Mass at the Peñaranda Park. Sadly we can't witness the "Salubong" or (Saklot in Bikol).

The said ceremony usually starts with a procession, followed by cute little angels singing the Queen of Heaven song (Regina Coeli), and ends up where one angel is brought down from the upper deck of a tower going down to get the veil of the Sorrowful Mother, and then Mama Mary encounters her risen son Jesus Christ.

Easter Egg Hunting

Never did I experience Easter egg hunting when I was a kid. The only idea I have about it is hunting for colorful eggs hidden around the house or certain places and there are prices awaiting for kids inside them.

Since I didn't get to experience such a fun game, I wish my daughter and  my future kids will get to experience it. I remember a friend of mine who is an event planner told me last year that they're going to host an Easter Egg Hunting event this 2014 but I guess they did not pursue it anymore because of their very busy schedule. Hopefully, next year they will be able to plan it already.

Good Friday Procession

As early as 5 in the afternoon, me and my daughter have been very excited to witness the Holy Week procession that will pass by our house. I remember my daughter joined the said procession three years ago and she said it was very tiring that's why she doesn't want to join again instead she'll just watch it on the street.

During my childhood days whenever we're in Daet, Camarines Norte for the Holy Week, I don't remember watching the procession with my cousins because we usually spend it at my lola's house bonding together. And whenever I choose to stay with my mom here in Legazpi during the Holy Week, I don't get to see the whole procession because it doesn't pass by outside the house, I have to walk some distance to be able to witness it. But what I remember well was my father taking me and my brother on a city tour checking out every house that has a life size station of the cross.

For this Holy Week 2014, here are some of the photos I've taken during the procession.

Santa Maria Salome

Who is Santa Maria Salome?

She is one of the "Three Marys" who have served Jesus Christ. She was a disciple/follower of Jesus who appeared briefly in the canonical gospels and apocryphal writings.

Mary Salome was known as the wife of Zebedee and the mother of St. James the Great and St. John. She has witnessed Jesus Christ's Crucifixion and she was among the people who were present at the burial place during day of Jesus' Resurrection.

Above is a picture of Maria Salome which our neighbor had been taking care of for many years. Every year I look forward to see the different designs and styles of clothes she's going to wear as well as the beautiful flower decorations placed all over her for the Holy Week procession.

The Last 7 Words Of Jesus

I know for sure we have studied at school about the Seven Last Words of Jesus on the Cross before he died. Sadly, I don't remember any of them by now. I kept on thinking it was exactly "7 words" but when I made a research, it was actually 7 sentences.

I badly need to refresh myself about this Last 7 Words of Jesus. So here it is.

THE FIRST WORD

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."
Gospel of Luke 23:34

THE SECOND WORD

"Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."
Gospel of Luke 23:43

THE THIRD WORD

"Jesus said to his mother: "Woman, this is your son."
Then he said to the disciple: "This is your mother."
Gospel of John 19:26-27

THE FOURTH WORD

"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34

THE FIFTH WORD

"I thirst."
Gospel of John 19:28

THE SIXTH WORD

They put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth.
When Jesus had received the wine, he said, "It is finished;"
and he bowed his head and handed over the spirit.
Gospel of John 19:29-30

THE SEVENTH WORD

Jesus cried out in a loud voice,
"Father, into your hands I commend my spirit."
Gospel of Luke 23:46

Kawa Kawa Hill and Nature Park, Ligao City

Travelling to Kawa Kawa Hill and Nature Park at Ligao City will only take me about 30 minutes of road travel from our place. However, until now I haven't been there yet and I've been longing to see the the place along with the sunflower farm.

Located at California Village, Brgy. Tuburan, Ligao City is the Kawa-Kawa Hill and Nature Park which is a 236 meter land where you will actually be able to see an amazing 360 degree view of the said city and its neighboring towns. For a little bit of history, Kawa-Kawa derived its name because of its unique shape that resembles a "kawa" or cauldron.

The Kawa-Kawa Hill and Nature Park is considered as one of the famous tourist destinations here in Albay. It is made popular as a religious destination especially during the Holy Week season because of its larger than life Stations of the Cross.

Seeing these pictures makes me more excited to see them for real. I have asked my hubby if we can go to Ligao this coming Wednesday or Thursday and he said yes as long as vehicles will be allowed to enter and there will only be short walks for me to take which I doubt. In case I don't get to visit the place, I'll surely go there months after I give birth or as soon as I'm allowed to walk for a long distance.

Holy Week 2014

One of the many special occasions I always look forward every year is the Holy Week. When I was still young our whole family used to spend it travelling and spending a short vacation at my Dad's place at Camarines Norte. I just love the idea of spending quality bonding time with my relatives there and going to the beach. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to travel far because I'm on my 6th month of pregnancy and I really have to be careful.

Anyway, spending the Holy Week 2014 here at our place in Legazpi, Albay is great considering I still can watch the procession which passes by just outside our house and there's Santa Maria Salome at our neighborhood.

It is already a holiday this coming Thursday so our family will get to spend more time together at home. We still haven't decided yet if we will go swimming by Saturday or by Sunday together with our neighbors.

Palm Sunday 2014

Today I went to attend the 6:30 AM  Holy Mass at the Albay Cathedral because it's Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week.

Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in all fourcanonical Gospels. - Catholic Online

I have bought three pieces of "palaspas" (palm leaf) which the priest have blessed after the mass. I had just place one palm leaf at our home and gave one for my mother, and one for my mother-in-law.

(mother and daughter selling palaspas for Php 5.00 (w/o a ribbon) and Php 10.00 (w/ a ribbon) outside the Albay Cathedral)

The Church says Filipinos should give the palaspas no other meaning than a symbol of welcome at the triumphant entry of Jesus to Jerusalem. It’s plain superstitious to use a blessed palm to ward off evil spirits or as protection against lightning and other disasters. RAFFY LERMA Inquirer.net
